This Is The Deal You've Been Looking For!

1997 Kawasaki Vulcan VN1500 Classic

Pictured Above Without the Easily Removed
'Biker's Friend' on the back seat

The pipes are Cobra, they not only look
nice but they sound great as well.
I get a lot of comments on its nice sound.
They'll hear you coming and you want that.

A Saddle Fit For A King--YOU!
The bike looks pretty cool without the back
rest, luggage rack and 'biker's friend'.
Lots of possibilities depending on your style.
You can easily sell the parts you don't want on ebay.

Everybody likes Chrome

That black leather thing on the tank is called
a 'bib'. It holds small items like a wallet,
keys, change, cigarettes or whatever.
If you don't like it, it's easily removable
and the paint under it is the same quality
and color as the rest of the tank.

Light bar cost me $219 plus installation.
They're going to see you coming with these lights
and that's what you want.

Nice stitching on the new custom Mustang Seat

Paid over $320 plus shipping for that seat.

Sissy Bar and Luggage Rack come off
real easy if you don't like 'em.
I paid over $120 for that luggage rack
and it came in real handy for my trip
to Yosemite.

It might have some more miles on it when you
pick it up but no more than 27,700.
If you've read anything about this bike,
you know there's plenty of dependable
miles left to be had for you.

Now, those are the pictures of the
1997 Kawasaki 1500.

Here are the pictures of everything else that's included.

This is called a 'biker's friend'.
Read all about them on their web site
at http://bikersfriend.com/

I'll just say that it is great as a back rest
and a place to put 'stuff'. Those 2 things attached to it
are removable. They're designed to have the bag sit
at just the right distance for you from the handlebars.

The bag removes real easy too so you can carry with you.

I'm also including this carry all bag
and Men's size Large DOT approved helmet,
worn maybe 3 times.
The bag is great for wallet, keys, phone, maps, etc.

Genuine Kawasaki mechanic's manuals and original
owners manual included.

I just changed the oil about 20 miles ago and
included is this extra filter.

Also, I have a K&N air filter that never needs to
be replaced, just blow it clean with an air hose.

That's a new 'battery tender', costs about $45.
It's included as well. You just plug it in
when you get home and it keeps the battery
charged to the max without overcharging.

I just bought a Yuasa battery about 3 months ago,
not some cheap battery from Kragen's.
That set me back about $140 so you'll be
good for 5 or more years if you plug into the

tender every time you get home.

You don't have to take the seat off,
although you could if you wanted to, but a
plug hangs down out of sight and when you
need it you just pull it down and plug 'er i
n.

Included is this cover, with venting to allow moisture
to escape and the bike won't get rusty, although
I've always had it garaged.

This Craftsman motorcycle / ATV
jack is included as well. The bike weighs
about 800 pounds although you wouldn't
know it to ride it as its center of gravity
is real low.

I bought the bike from a guy about
5" 8" and maybe 160 lbs and he had no
problem riding it or balancing it.

But this jack is the real deal,
not some imitation from China and will lift the
bike 17" in the air and hold it solid and steady
so you can change the oil, clean the silver spokes
or clean the white wall tires or change a tire, etc.

Folds up real nice too.

Some extra bungee cords and some other
methods of securing the Biker's Friend
that I didn't use but you may want to.

Even my leather gloves worn only a few times
and some plastic windshield cleaner so it won't get scratched
and some spare fuses.

The orange thing is a lock that fits on the front brake/wheel.
The 2 yellow things are helmet locks. If you decide to
remove the saddlebags which I bought new for about
$140, you will find a manufacturer's helmet lock,
but the bags come in handy for extra riding gear and water, etc.

When the custom Cobra exhaust pipes were installed, (about $600) the
carburetor needed to be re-jetted to allow for the extra air flow
so you get more power than a stock Kawasaki.
There are additional jets in here if you decide you
want to open it up even more. Don't ask me about this,
I paid a Kawasaki shop and that's what the mechanic said.
All I do is change oil and clean the bike. I have professionals
do any other work. The things on the envelope are described from
the site they were purchased from below:

The two plates (Coasters) are constructed of 6061 T6 aircraft quality aluminum, and attached with four provided stainless allen bolts and washers, gaskets are not supplied. However, original gaskets may be reused or a quality silicon sealer will work well, if the original gasket is damaged during removal. Read all about them here: http://home.flash.net/~sanco/coaster.html
They came with the jack when I bought it and never had a need to install them or really understood what
they even did, but if you can figure it out-go for it!

This came with the Saddlemen saddle bags.
I chose to mount the bags with bolts but if you
want you can attach them with this and just hang it over the fender,
then you can easily detach and carry them. I didn't
see the need for that since I had the 'biker's friend'.

I purchased and installed a Vista Cruise Control

Here it is installed. It's great for long trips. You just push the
lever down and it allows freedom of your right hand.
It doesn't 'lock' so if you need to shut the throttle down,
you just over-ride it. I wouldn't be without one.
There's also something on the grips called
Cramp Busters, if you look closely.
They come off if you want but what
they do is allow you to use the base of your
hand to accelerate and you're not always having to grip
the handle. It makes for a much more relaxing ride.

What the heck is this stuff?
The orange things are to be put on the bottom
of the frame if you don't want to put the
jack directly on the bike and there's some
extra grease and chrome cleaner. I didn't use the
orange things myself as the jack has rubber on
the parts that come in contact with the bike,
but you can have them if you want them.

This is an extra chrome cover which leads me into what's wrong with the bike.
Nothing mechanically, it runs great like a freight train,
lots of torque and power and comfort.
But, there are a few scratches so let me show you those.

There's a small dent in the front fender. Don't know
how it got there as I'm the 3rd owner and it was there
when I purchased. If I had to guess I'd say someone
dropped the orange lock that you saw earlier as
it's heavy and solid metal.

Same with these-no idea-they were there when I bought it.
This is a really blown up view, you really hardly notice it.

This is the light on the left blown up as well. I do know how this happened. I was installing the battery
and that's under the seat. As I mentioned the charger has a wire that hangs down on the right side of the bike. As I was attempting to put the seat back on, it has to catch in a groove and for some reason I was having a difficult time. So, I put a little more force into it which caused the bike to push forward on the kickstand and the kickstand started to go up and the bike started to go down. I was on the right and it was falling away from me and it 'dropped' at a standstill causing the light to get scratched as shown.

Can you see what's wrong in this picture?
I couldn't either until my brother pointed out
that I was missing a side cover. It either
fell off or someone stole it in Yosemite.
They're easily and inexpensively replaceable
through ebay.

A closer view of the spot where the side
cover used to be.

And my last sad story. Remember the orange lock?
As far as I can tell the steering wheel lock does not
work or if it does I'm too stupid to figure it out.
So, I was using the orange lock which is very effective.
The only problem was, when I first got the bike it
didn't have the little orange cord that attaches to the brake handle.
So, I locked it up and upon returning to ride off,
I forgot it was there. Fortunately, I started off very slowly
but it still caused the bike to tip over and cause that
scratch and scratched the chrome cover which I replaced
which is why I have a spare because they sell them in pairs.
Also, it scratched the mirror, but not noticeable
enough for me to replace it. See below.

So, there you have it. A really nice bike overall
with the exception of a few minor flaws. It runs great,
looks great, is a blast to drive and ride.

Why am I selling it? My landlord is selling the

house we've been renting for the last 5 years
and we've been paying at least $500 below market
so I have to come up with an extra 5 bills
real fast so everything that isn't absolutely
necessary has to go. Sad, but true.

Here's all the legalese.
You are responsible for shipping. Ebay can
connect you with a reliable shipper or do a search
for 'auto shipper' on google.

If you want all the extra stuff, you'll have to pay shipping
on that as well. of course if you live in the Los Angeles

area you can avoid that expense and ride off into the sunset.

Heck, it's still nice enough around the country,
take off work and ride it home to another state.
They don't call these types of bikes
cruisers for nothing.

The final sale price is for everything, shipping
would be an additional expense for you.

I would prefer payment as a wire transfer
from your bank to my credit union.
No instant cash transfers or bogus money orders
or cashiers checks. No offers from out of
the country. If you have a history of negatives
on your bidding and paying I reserve the right to
delete your bid.
Payment could also be made via Paypal
from a 'confirmed' sender.
